Laurie Martin is a multi-disciplinary artist whose practice revolves around storytelling. Laurie works with film, music, text, and costume design, to create narratives in other realms. Her work draws inspiration from the work of Agnes Pelton, Pop Culture, childhood films (Labyrinth, Dark Crystal and The Neverending Story) and pastel colour graded films. 

 

Laurie’s work Applecola is a TV show featuring a metadigital sister pop-duo both named Applecola. Applecola is an exploration into how The Sims 4 can be used to create films of sims developing their own personal expansion packs to their world. The characters are able to explore what it means to be a sim in the world that they have been transported to. This piece has been developed from Laurie’s previous work Lost in Homebase.
